Abellio has announced that its sole remaining commercial route in Surrey – the 461 – is to be taken over by local firm Falcon Coaches from 15 September.

The transition of the service to Falcon marks the end of Abellio’s commercial presence in the region, the company deciding instead to focus on its London operation.

The route’s timetable will change ‘slightly’ from this date, says Abellio, but all tickets issued by the company will continue to be accepted until expiry.

Route 461 connects Addlestone, Weybridge, Walton, Molesey and Hampton Court with Kingston, and runs up to every 30 mins.

Falcon Coaches took on its first local bus service last year, but has since been awarded the 514, 515, 456, 564 and 431 routes, serving north east London, south west Surrey and Middlesex.
