The 68 ‘Guest bus running day’ proved highly popular and ‘star of the show’ was 1946 Beadle-bodied AEC Regal HKL 836, freshly repainted in Hastings & District cream and maroon.
The Regal was one of three famously converted by Maidstone & District, as its OR1-3, to operate the Hastings Town Tour, taking the places of ‘flying pig’ bonneted Dennis Ace single-deckers.
All three of the Regals happily survive in preservation, 836 with the London Bus Company.
