Fire-damaged Olympic to go on show

Friends of King Alfred Buses (FoKAB)’s 1950 Leyland Olympic JAA 708, which after having been fully restored and relaunched in 2012 was very badly damaged in a fire that spread from adjoining properties to the Friends’ storage area last December, will be put on public display for the first time at the Buses Festival being held at Sywell Aerodrome in Northamptonshire on 1 September.

An operation has been planned to move it from its base near Winchester to the event site, and the bus’ owners say it will be transported with great care, on a low-loader provided through the offices of Hampshire specialist haulage contractor R G Maidment. It will remain on the trailer whilst on display to the public.
