In the run up to Christmas, on Monday 2 December First Sheffield launched its specially designed ‘snowflake’ livery to support the 20th anniversary of the Sheffield Children’s Hospital’s snowflake appeal. The hospital began the snowflake appeal back in 2004 and has raised almost £3m so far; businesses across Sheffield each year purchase a snowflake to go on the Children’s Hospital building each year for the festive period.

This year, First launched its special dedicated livery at the Children’s Hospital annual snowflake light switch-on. The bus operator recently relaunched its partnership with the hospital back In September, and decided to apply a lit-up snowflake less conventionally by placing one on a bus.

Managing Director of First Bus Manchester, Midlands & South Yorkshire Zoe Hands said: “We are proud to be supporting Sheffield Children’s Hospital 20th year of the snowflake appeal, by dedicating this specially designed livery for them, which will pass by the hospital on a number of routes throughout December. We have plenty more plans in the works for 2025, and we’re excited to see this partnership blossom.”
