NORWAY Norwegian operator Vy Buss has ordered new battery-electric Solaris Urbino 9 LE buses for routes in Slemmestad, a suburban area of Oslo. The buses, scheduled for delivery in July, mark the debut of Solaris’ nine metre battery-electric bus in the Nordic markets.
“Norway has had success for many years with the diesel version of Solaris Urbino 8.9 LE, a perfect bus for countryside travel and smaller towns. Now, we aim for the new 9 LE electric to be just as successful, and are proud to introduce this bus to the Norwegian market together with Vy,” said Sverre Skaar, CEO of Solaris Norge. The buses for Vy Buss will be equipped with Solaris’ ‘Scandinavian’ package, which includes additional thermal insulation and features such as a snow chain drawer and special anti-elk lights designed to deter wild animals from entering the road.
