Flintshire County Council is ‘still investigating’ how its two new electric buses will be used, says North Wales Live, the two vehicles having reportedly been unused for months. Purchased with grant funding from Welsh Government, local media reports that they have been parked since purchase without being put into regular service., although the local authority says it is investigating options for their use.

Acquired in September 2022, the Optare buses are believed to have cost in the region of £500,000. A council spokesperson said: ‘’Flintshire County Council were successful in obtaining Welsh Government grant funding for the procurement of electric buses. While there was a delay in obtaining the vehicles due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Council is now in receipt of the vehicles and is currently investigating options for their use.”
