PORTUGAL

Flixbus has launched a new Yutong electric coach in Portugal, its first in the country after a pilot project carried out there in 2022. Flixbus says the coach is capable of a range of up to 400km per charge, and will make two daily trips, seven days a week, between Porto and Lisbon, with projected see savings of at least 150 tons of CO2 per year.

”What may seem like small steps is actually a significant milestone in our ongoing strategy toward carbon neutrality, driving a more sustainable future of mobility every day,” says Flixbus. “Our previous pilot project came to an end due to lacking charging possibilities. We are happy to see the great development over the last few years in Portugal in that area.

Charging is being provided by EDP, which Flixbus describes as a pioneer in developing the Portuguese national charging network. The bus will be charged at the end of each journey, which Flixbus expects to take around 2 hours and 45 minutes for a charge from 20% to 100%.

The bus is being operated by partner operator AV Feirense. “We are really excited to be at the forefront of pushing for a more sustainable future of travel in Portugal and with many other bus partners globally,” said Flixbus.
