G.A. Smiths Coaches Ltd of Tring, Hertfordshire – which traded as Smiths Coaches – has announced via a note on its website that it will be closing down after over six decades in business.

Company Director John Smith wrote: “It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we have taken the difficult decision to close our family business after more than 60 years.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our drivers, suppliers and customers, many of whom have become friends over the years, for your loyalty and support.

“Wishing everyone health and happiness in the future. With thanks, John.”

The firm previously operated route SM8 to Townsend School, which has now been transferred to Motts Travel.
