14 new Irizar electric buses will be delivered to Gatwick Airport. IRIZAR E-MOBILITY

Irizar E-mobility has signed a contract with London Gatwick Airport to supply a fleet of new electric buses, the first fully-electric buses to operate at the airport. The 14 new vehicles will all be 18-metre ie trams and will be used on services from the airport’s long stay car parks to the terminals. They will be equipped with extra luggage racks, and charged using an ultra-fast pantograph system, capable of providing a full charge in less than six minutes.

In addition, the new buses will be equipped with digital vision cameras, which significantly improves the front, side and rear visibility.
A similar vehicle was recently displayed in Liverpool; see issue 1689 for the full story.
