GAZ, which manufactures the GAZelle NEXT van and minibus, has introduced a more powerful CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) dual-fuel engine, the EvoTech 3.0, which enables the power output to be increased to 120hp when using petrol, (109hp when it’s CNG) compared to its EvoTech 2.7 predecessor.
Peak torque is up to 252Nm (225Nm on CNG).
GAZ says that an important design feature of the upgraded EvoTech 3.0 engine is the use of a cast iron cylinder block instead of the aluminium cylinder block installed on previous versions.
This enabled the thermal load to be reduced and to increase the powertrain stability at high temperatures.
The changes affected other components as well, including crankshaft and camshaft, cylinder head and piston.
The new design provides for the possibility of installing a dual-circuit air-conditioning system for minibuses and two compressors for refrigerated vans, says the manufacture
