Go-Ahead Ireland commenced operations on 9 September 2018 with brand new service 175. It is currently taking over a number of services formerly operated by Dublin Bus in five phases. Richard Sharman takes an in depth look at the operation which has started from scratch and by February will be operating 128 vehicles

During early 2015, Ireland’s National Transport Authority (NTA) announced that 10% of the Outer Dublin Metropolitan Area (ODMA) Public Service Obligation (PSO) routes were to be put out to tender. The reason for this process beginning was that the NTA had decided it wanted to improve bus services in and around Dublin city by introducing a new operator, which would then put the focus on customer service, improve service quality and encourage innovation for both the existing operator and the new one.
