Otford-based independent operator Go-Coach Hire is launching a new ‘Silver Service’ on June 12, revamping the existing 401 service.
As part of this service improvement, the operator has invested in a new high-specification Alexander Dennis Enviro200.
The operator decided to start running the 401 service on a commercial basis in October 2011 after it saw high patronage growth when Go-Coach Hire took over the service from Kent County Council. This has saved the council £13,650 per annum in subsidy.
Austin Blackburn, Managing Director of Go-Coach Hire, said: “This is our main commercial route so we felt it was time to revamp the service and give something back to our loyal passengers.
“We have invested over £100,000 in a new bus which will give our passengers greater capacity, free WiFi, comfortable leather seats and a green Euro 5 engine. These are all benefits that Sevenoaks passengers have never seen before.
“As from July 25 we will run two additional 410 departures from Sevenoaks on a Saturday, making the last bus leave at 1745hrs. This will benefit many customers whom work in town, want to visit family or friends or perhaps would like to leave the car at home for a change.
“We are also pleased to announce that there will be no increases in fares for the 401 service this year.”
Go-Coach Hire was established in 2008 with a single coach, and has now grown to a fleet size of 32 vehicles, with 46 staff and a £2m turnover.
