Go South Coast (GSC) has ordered 77 new vehicles for 2018. Asked by CBW what the order comprises, a GSC spokeswoman said: “There will be 60 single deckers and 17 double deckers. They will all be Euro 6 ADL Enviro200 MMCs and 400 MMCs. There are no coaches in this announcement.”
Commenting on the order, GSC Managing Director, Andrew Wickham said: “We are delighted to be spending more than £13m on new single and double-decker buses, manufactured by Alexander Dennis (ADL).
“We’ve also been careful to ensure they offer environmental benefits – with each powered by a Euro 6 engine. With the Government’s draft Air Quality plan recently published, we’re keen to present the bus as the ideal solution for reducing the impact of harmful exhaust fumes on the environment.
“It is our mission to encourage more people to make good use of sustainable transport. I’m delighted to have made this important investment at no cost to the taxpayer. We wouldn’t have been able to embark on this fully commercial venture without the high demand we’ve been experiencing for our services.”
Andrew concluded: “I’m looking forward to seeing our new fleet as our extra additions take to the roads across the south coast between now and April 2018.”
