GoMedia has signed a multi-territory deal with Verizon Media to bring Yahoo Search, a Verizon Media brand, to the on-board infotainment systems on Greyhound buses in North America. The Yahoo Search function will be built into Greyhound’s GoMedia-developed infotainment solution, which enables passengers to browse the internet through a reliable connection, without tapping into their mobile data allowance.

Roger Matthews, Managing Director, GoMedia, said: “In addition to offering a selection of great movies and TV on board, GoMedia now also gives Greyhound customers fast access to Yahoo Search, allowing them to browse the internet using one of the world’s most recognisable brands. As Greyhound further rolls out our solution to their bus fleet, passengers around the world will be able to benefit from using the on-board search functionality from their own device, without running up their data bill.

“We are constantly looking for ways to provide exciting and intuitive services for our customers, adding value to passengers’ journeys, and improving the on-board experience, and are looking forward to rolling the service out across our operator network before the end of the year.”

Michael Toto, Vice President of Business Development and Strategic Partnerships at Verizon Media, added: “We are delighted to be working with GoMedia and Greyhound to bring bus passengers an easy way to browse and discover information with Yahoo Search. This partnership is a key example of Verizon’s mission to help revolutionise how consumers access content no matter where they are – whether through Verizon’s connectivity capabilities, the content brands within Verizon Media, or through technology services like Yahoo Search.”

“We are constantly implementing innovative ways we can enhance the travel experience for our customers,” continued Todd Koch, Greyhound Vice President Strategy of Marketing and Customer Engagement. “Working with GoMedia, customers can continue to enjoy our on-board entertainment while also taking advantage of our new Yahoo Search functionality. This new component of our on-board entertainment system is just one of the ways we are continuing to raise the bar for what customers expect when traveling with Greyhound.”

The Yahoo Search service is expected to expand across GoMedia’s wider global network over the coming months.
