It is 20 years since Reading Buses moved into its Great Knollys Street depot.
CEO Martijn Gilbert has been reflecting on the enhancements and refurbishments that have taken place over the years.
Martijn said: “Although the depot is 20 years old, it is still regarded as one of the most modern and well-appointed facilities in the UK bus industry. It helped provide a clean and professional working environment from which to deliver the best possible services to customers with plans for further enhancements when resources allowed.
“As Reading, and therefore our company, continues to grow, we are having to get better at using the parking space in the depot and it is not unforeseeable that, at current growth rates, additional land or premises may be required in the coming years.
“It is a testament to everyone’s hard work that 20 years on we have so many members of our team who remember the move and the official opening in the July by the then Minister of Transport Gavin Strang MP.
“In fact, there are no fewer than 82 people working here now – 13.5% of our total number of employees of 614 – who were with the company when we moved to the facility.”
