Founded in 2018, Newcastle-based Group 10 has become another victim of the coronavirus pandemic. The operator said on its Facebook site: “It is with great sadness that Group 10 Coaches will close its doors on 1 March as it has finally fallen victim to Covid-19 and our government’s inability to support our industry. Group 10 Coaches was set up back in 2018 with one coach and we have gone from strength to strength to a wonderful fleet of seven, but it’s now come to a point that after 12 long months with little or no hope or support on the horizon we simply believe it will be irresponsible of us to continue any further.
“Our hearts are broken given the fact that this simply isn’t our fault and we have fought tooth and nail to get this far and simply we now have to close our doors but keep our heads held high. I wish all of our fellow operators all the best and although this chapter will close our other operations and brands will continue to function as normal with no ongoing concerns.
“We have appeared on radio, television, newspaper and have pleaded for help from our government for our industry and all for nothing as here we are. Lucky enough we leave behind a good, solid and honest reputation with our clients, suppliers and fellow operators.
Do not judge us based on this ending, judge us based on what we have tried to overcome. Behind this closure are people and we are only human.”
