Halbeath Park & Ride celebrated its tenth anniversary back in November 2023. Richard Walter examines how the busy hub has developed in the two years since and illustrates the variety of bus and coach types and operators that serve (or use) the facility – not all on service work.
Delivered in partnership with Transport Scotland, Halbeath park & ride site was developed to give commuters alternative travel options for people travelling into Edinburgh and Glasgow, as well as with the aim of trying to reduce traffic heading into the centre of Dunfermline. The facility has over 1,100 free parking spaces including 48 disabled spaces and 20 electric car charging bays. It offers easy onward travel links across Scotland, including to Edinburgh Airport, Aberdeen, Inverness, Perth, Dundee and St Andrews with Citylink/megabus, Parks of Hamilton, Stagecoach East Scotland and FlixBus all using the facility.
