Transdev operator Rosso has provided a specially-made focal point to bring back the good times for residents at one Lancashire care home living with dementia. Many of the residents living at Haslingden Hall care home have happy recollections of using the bus, including of meeting their partners, enjoying time with friends and family or going to the shops, but time has eroded some of those golden moments for those living with dementia.

Rosso stepped in to provide the home with its own custom-made bus stop sign in its gardens, to serve as a focal point to help bring back memories of good times shared on bus journeys in days gone by. Manager Jo-Ann Liptrot said: “We can’t thank Rosso enough for their kind generosity in supplying our new specially-made bus stop, which will greatly benefit our residents living with dementia in its various forms. The idea came to us due to the many requests we receive from our residents, asking us where the bus stop is. Thanks to the team at Rosso, we now have our very own bus stop which will act as a focal point to help bring back memories of journeys shared over the years.”

Rosso Customer Services Manager Phil Harris and Commercial Manager Matt Burley delivered and installed the new sign. Phil said: “When we heard about the idea of Haslingden Hall having its own custom-made bus stop, we were only too happy to help – and the smiles of the residents when they saw it for the first time made it all worthwhile.

“Going by bus holds precious memories for people who met their husband or wife on board or at their local bus stop, or who used the buses to visit favourite people and places. We hope Haslingden Hall’s new bus stop will help to bring back happy thoughts of good times shared on Lancashire’s buses.”
