Transport Museum Wythall (TMW) says its Harrington Gathering will return in 2026. The fifth Harrington Gathering will take place on Sunday 17 May next year, with the museum hoping to see the largest ever gathering of Harrington coaches and cars, plus any other Harrington coachbuilt product that surfaces in the meantime.

The previous event in 2023 was much appreciated by the 400 people who visited, the museum says, and featured coaches representing eight decades of art deco-inspired design on a number of different chassis, plus a very plain yet attractive single-deck service bus. From the bonneted era of the early 1930s through dorsal finned luxury into the 1960s, there was something for everyone.

Harrington was also famous for coachbuilt cars, its relationships with the Rootes Group and Standard Triumph illustrated by the legendary Harrington Sunbeam and Triumph products, represented at the 2023 Gathering in the shape of a record five Sunbeam Alpines and a Triumph GTR 4 Dove, all carrying coupé bodywork, the hallmark of Harrington automobile style.

However, the museum also advises that this year’s planned Bedford OB gathering has been cancelled, with insufficient vehicles are available due to owners’ other commitments to build an event. The museum says it has decided to celebrate the vehicle every five years, the next event planned for 2029. In the meantime, museum is planning a new event, Bedford Bus & Coach at Wythall, for 2026, which will welcome all Bedford buses and coaches, including OBs, with further imformation to be released in due course.
