Daimler Buses has supplied a fleet of new electric articulated buses to Darmstadt transport company HEAG mobilo. Following the official handover of 10 new Mercedes Benz eCitaros, the share of electric buses in the HEAG fleet has increased to around 65%. The vehicles were handed over by Rüdiger Kappel, Head of Sales, Public Transport Germany at Daimler Buses, and André Herrmann, Sales, Public Transport Hessen at Daimler Buses, to HEAG mobilo Managing Directors Johannes Gregor and Arne Rath with the symbolic presentation of a charging plug at the operator’s Böllenfalltor depot.

The new eCitaros are equipped with NMC3 batteries, giving the articulated bus with its seven installed battery packs a total capacity of 686kWh and a range of around 220 kilometres. The vehicles are charged in the depot via plugs and charging sockets located on both sides near the front axle.

Additionally, a reversing camera, a large driver protection window, Active Preventive Brake Assist and Sideguard Assist provide safety for driver and other road-users alike, and each bus interior is fully video monitored with six cameras.

The interior is completed by two special-purpose areas with wheelchair supports and integrated mother/child seats, as well as double USB charging ports distributed in the side walls and two ultra-wide displays for passenger information.

HEAG mobilo started its journey to e-mobility in June 2020. Including the latest delivery, the company now has 49 electric buses in its fleet, 40 of which bear the three-pointed star.
