Despite dating from the 1950s, the depot is renowned for its superb Art Deco-style frontage.

An Arriva spokesperson said: “Arriva can confirm our Wigston depot is to be sold later this year, with all bus services operating from our Thurmaston depot. The sale does not cause any impact on our customer journeys and we’re working closely with our union to support a smooth transition to Thurmaston and Hinckley depots for our Wigston team. Arriva is still proudly serving Leicester and surrounding areas, through our extensive bus network.”
