Public transport connectivity solutions provider Icomera has won a Red Dot design award for its next-generation cloud-based machine-learning network management tool Discovery. Icomera has designed Discovery to optimise internet connectivity and network performance for millions of passengers and tens of thousands of on-board systems on a daily basis.
The Red Dot award is a German award which has become established around the world as a sign of quality for design excellence. Icomera was selected from over 20,000 entries from 49 countries by an international panel of experts across a wide range of industries. The firm was previously awarded a Red Dot for its X-Series routers, meaning its product portfolio now features design award-winning hardware and software.
Icomera says that its Discovery software provides an ‘intuitive, easy-to-navigate, and highly customisable interface’ and enhanced monitoring of fleets and systems. Using machine learning technology to automatically raise alerts, the software allows for deep-level real-time and historical data analysis of an on-board network, systems and hardware, regardless of a fleet’s size, and uses the data to help operators resolve alerts when they occur and predict potential issues before they have any impact, thus helping to maintain passenger experience.
Mats Karlsson, Icomera’s Chief Technology Officer, said: “As the transport industry enters its post-pandemic recovery, the transition from analogue to digital systems plays a vital part in ensuring total journey certainty for passengers and offers better insights for operators.
“The adoption of innovative technologies such as machine learning will allow transport operators to make data-driven decisions confidently, provide the best possible on-board experience, and ensure higher levels of passenger satisfaction. This improved journey experience will, in turn, help to facilitate the shift to green mobility over less sustainable options, which is central to Icomera’s vision for a smarter, safer, and cleaner future.”
