Integration ends as SYMCA takes over Sheffield Supertram from Stagecoach

From Friday 22 March, Sheffield’s Supertram will no longer be run by Stagecoach, and will be operated by a new company, South Yorkshire Future Trams Limited, on behalf of the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA), meaning that combined Stagecoach bus and tram tickets will no longer be available, though passengers will still be able to buy a Travelmaster day ticket valid on all operators’ bus and tram services in the city.

From the same date, Stagecoach Gold tickets, which allow unlimited travel on the full route of all Stagecoach buses in South & West Yorkshire, Buxton, Chesterfield, Matlock and on most routes in Nottinghamshire and Gainsborough, as well as trams until 22 March, will increase in price.

Stagecoach Chief Operating Officer Sam Greer said; “I’ve been with Stagecoach since we took over the operation at Supertram and what an incredible 27 years it has been. It’s the people that make Supertram, and I am pleased that our teams are moving over to support SYMCA as they begin the next phase of their journey.

“I remember my excitement was evident whilst touring the support facilities, meeting new faces and viewing the cutting edge systems. The forward-thinking and ambitious spirit amongst the team has only strengthened over the years and we look forward to witnessing its next chapter with SYMCA.
