Nestled in the leafy Devon countryside is a vehicle conversion specialist that has built a strong reputation for build quality and offers multiple vehicle options for a number of different applications. Richard Sharman made a visit to the recently opened new site as the business prepares to celebrate its 35th anniversary

GM Coachwork has been helping schools, colleges, universities, community transport groups and coach operators find the perfect options for their fleets for nearly 35 years. Starting out in 1988, the group has grown to incorporate six business divisions which, as well as converting vans into minibuses, include wheelchair accessible vehicles, vehicle adaptations, drive-from-wheelchair vehicles, used vehicles and campervans.

In addition, the group is ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO45001 certified and is an accredited converter for commercial vehicle manufacturers including Iveco, Maxus, Peugeot, Renault, Vauxhall and Volkswagen. Sales Specialist Paul Barber explained: “There are three of us who look after community transport operators, local authorities and coach and bus operators. We are here to advise customers of the best options for their requirements.
