Following the launch of Optibus’ Operations module, the transport management software provider has announced that municipal bus operator Ipswich Buses will use Optibus’ cloud-native software for all planning, scheduling, and rostering needs. The operator will also be one of the first in the UK to implement Optibus’ new real-time Operations module.
The company operates a network of local bus services across the Borough of Ipswich and the surrounding area which is complemented by home to school contracts, rail replacement services and private hire. The company said that the crucial factor for Ipswich Buses in selecting Optibus was the software’s ease of use and flexibility in allowing changes and its removal of manual processes and servers.
Optibus also stood out based on its ability to offer a cloud-native solution across all modules, it said, including Operations, whereas other market solutions are installed on-premises or are hosted on the cloud, incurring potentially expensive hardware maintenance and services costs. Optibus’ software is native to the cloud, requiring no hardware or maintenance, and can be easily scaled to handle any amount of data, including importing and exporting, with no negative impact on the platform’s speed. Optibus says its platform is constantly advancing and updating with new features, added with no downtime required and at no additional expense to clients.
“Optibus is the ideal solution for our operation moving forward. The software’s proven ability to improve business efficiency is unparalleled. We look forward to bringing a new chapter of service quality to Ipswich, and a new level of efficiency to our operation, and we are excited to be one of the first users in the UK of the new Operations module,” said Steve Bryce, General Manager of Ipswich Buses.
Optibus’ Regional Director for the UK & Ireland Adam Quieros added: “We are delighted to welcome Ipswich Buses to the Optibus family. Optibus is heavily invested in the UK market, and amongst ALBUM (Association of Local Bus Managers) members in particular,
of which Ipswich Buses is a member, and we feel this partnership will further demonstrate our continued commitment to and growth in the market.”
