Caerphilly-based James Executive Travel had its operator’s licence was called to public inquiry on 5 November, following an investigation by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA).

A vehicle examiner carried out an inspection at the operator’s premises in July 2018 following the issue of an ‘S’ marked prohibition.

Shortcomings were recorded in driver defect reporting, vehicle inspections and rectification work. Prohibitions were also issued at the fleet inspection.

The operator’s transport manager was advised to attend a refresher course, having not undertaken any training since passing his CPC.

A traffic examiner investigation concluded that the operator’s compliance was mostly satisfactory with only minor issues regarding WTD and initial training for drivers.

The decision made in respects to the operator’s license held by Robert Alan Giles was to revoke the license with immediate effect.
