Five new vehicles will enter service in May next year designed for even greater comfort on the operator’s tour programme
The JG Travel Group is to introduce new deluxe ‘JG Explorer’ coaches for the 2024 season, with five new vehicles set to enter service in May next year. Supplied in co-operation with several of the group’s long-term coach operating partners, and built by Scania and Irizar, the company says its new versatile, high-end touring coaches will be exclusive to its own tours.
The operator says that each of the new Irizar I6S Efficient 13.2m tri-axle coaches will have a stand-out design with a range of features for those customers looking for an extra level of comfort. Each vehicle will feature 44 superior luxury seats and extra legroom.
The layout also includes an easily accessible floor-level, rear-mounted toilet and a kitchen, plus an on-board Nespresso coffee machine enabling customers to purchase a coffee which will be dispensed by the driver during comfort breaks. The coach is also fitted with a unique, fresh filtered cold water tap which customers can use to fill complimentary water bottles, cutting down on the need for disposable plastic on board.
Entertainment will be available throughout the journey as all JG Explorer coaches will have access to Azimut, a wireless media system, providing films, music and quizzes. Each seat is fitted with a USB charging port and free WiFi will be available.
The coaches will operate a range of tours with JG Travel’s Just Go! Holidays and National Holidays brands in Britain, Ireland and Europe, offering a choice of over 250 departure dates annually.
A new brand has been created which will encompass both the National Holidays and Just Go! brand signatures, and will be extended to brochures and the company’s websites to mark those tours where JG Explorer coaches will be used.
The new coaches will be operated by existing partners Alpine Travel of Llandudno, Crosskeys Coaches of Folkestone, Hunters Coaches of Leeds, Prospect Coaches of Stourbridge and Taylors Coaches of Somerset.
Director of Operations at JG Travel Group Paul Mason commented: “This is such an exciting development for us, which builds on the demand we are seeing from our customers to spend a little more on a deluxe experience. The name ‘Explorer’ was chosen as we felt it was an extension of our long-term vision for our customers to ‘get more out of life.’
“Before embarking on this project, we undertook extensive market research with our customers and spent time with both manufacturers and coach suppliers to come up with the ultimate, thoughtful touring coach design specification. These new vehicles mean that we will be able to offer the option to travel in even greater comfort and style.”
Scania UK Sales Manager Lee Wale added: “We are delighted to partner with JG Travel Group on this exciting new project. These new coaches will take a customer’s coach journey experience to another level, and we look forward to getting them on the road in May 2024.”
