Acaster Airfield-based family-run coach firm closes, but sells its diary and goodwill to York Pullman
York coach operator Just Travel closed its door in the week before Christmas.
In a statement, owners James and Lisa Simpson said: “We wish to notify you that with effect from December 22, 2017, we have taken the decision to close the business of Just Travel (York) Ltd. This is in the best future interests of our valued clients, our staff and our family. This has not been an easy decision and one which was not taken lightly, however with Peter Kay’s sentiments just recently of family first, this is what we have chosen to do.
“We have been in the coach industry for over 20 years and in that time seen so many changes and met so many incredible people; from the schools we have served to the people we have provided vehicles for.
“We have sold the goodwill, diary and phone numbers etc. to York Pullman Bus Company Ltd., which will continue to operate them with its own vehicles and hopefully some of our staff may find employment there. Our fleet and assets will be disposed of privately in the coming months and James will be joining Tom James and his team at York Pullman in a part-time role to assist with the operation, which he is looking forward to.
“We want to assure everyone that you will be in very good hands with York Pullman and that any existing bookings into 2018 made with us will be honoured by York Pullman at the rates agreed on booking.
“We would like to sincerely thank all of our staff for their commitment to us and our clients for their custom over the years and we wish York Pullman all the very best going forward.”
James added: “All the fleet will be made available for sale in the coming weeks, I shall be retaining two AEC coaches and Ajokki, which is to be refurbished in the coming period. The Anderson of Horsforth name will appear in due time working within the York Pullman brand.”
