Together with its distributor Anadolu ROM, Karsan has reached an agreement with the Romanian municipality of Dej to deliver 14 Atak Electric and 6 Jest Electric buses. Having won the tender, funded by the European Union Regional Development Fund for the modernisation of public transport in the region, the Turkish manufacturer aims to deliver the 20 fully electric vehicles during 2020.
The Jest Electric is a compact bus, 6 metres long and highly manoeuvrable in a city environment. Equipped with a BMW electric motor producing 125kW of power and 2,900Nm of torque, with optional 44 or 88 kWh batteries, the Jest Electric offers a range of up to 210km. The motor at the heart of the Atak Electric generates 230kW engine power and 2,400Nm of torque, providing users with a high performance driving experience. Running on a total 220kWh battery capacity with five 44-kWh batteries developed by BMW, the 8-metre Atak Electric boasts a claimed 300km range. The vehicle’s batteries can be charged in 5 hours with AC charging, and in 3 hours with DC charging units.
