Jebsen & Jessen e-Mobility, which acts as importer for Mellor’s products in northern Europe, has supplied three Sigma 7 minibuses from Mellor’s battery-electric Sigma family to Kiel operator Kieler Verkehrsgesellschaft (KVG). KVG already operates a fleet of 67 electric single-deck and articulated vehicles, and the new Mellor minibuses have replaced two diesel-powered 10 year old Mercedes-Benz Sprinter City 65s. As temperatures in the northern German city can often drop below freezing in winter, the vehicles were specially equipped with a number of adaptations for cold climate regions, including the installation of a more powerful HVAC system for the driver and interior, as well as a thermal preconditioning system for the battery to maximise range on colder days.
