Pelican Bus & Coach will supply the new low-floor buses to the Wellglade operator, which build on another recent order for Yutong coaches by the East Midlands-based group
Wellglade Group operator Kinchbus has announced the purchase of 21 zero-emission single-deck electric buses from Pelican Bus & Coach, which are due to be delivered in the third quarter of 2025.
Head of Yutong UK at Pelican Ian Downie said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive this order from Kinchbus. The specification of the vehicles is testament to the exacting standards of innovation and customer experience that Kinchbus rightly prides itself on. New features have been added to the vehicle specification, with double glazing and cantilever seating being matched with new levels of customer-centric features in an environment that enhances the passenger experience. It has been a pleasure working with Tom and the team in bringing these vehicles to the East Midlands.”
Kinchbus Managing Director Tom Morgan said: “This significant investment underscores our commitment to providing high-quality, sustainable public transport. These new electric buses will play a crucial role in our decarbonisation strategy, resulting in cleaner air for everyone. Our drivers and engineers are excited to work with these cutting-edge technologies, which will future-proof their skills and place them at the forefront of the green transport revolution.”
The announcement follows on from sister operator Trentbarton’s order for 21 Yutong GT12 coaches for delivery this summer, several of which will enhance its flagship Red Arrow route, and totals an investment of over £13 million with Pelican in 2025/26.
Tom added: “We have thoroughly enjoyed working with Pelican on this order. Their dedication and flexibility have been instrumental in helping us elevate the standards of our on-board customer environment. Together with our esteemed partners, Camira and Altro, we are committed to creating an interior that not only sets a new benchmark for the industry but also thoughtfully addresses the diverse needs of all our customers, including those with disabilities and neurodivergent sensitivities.”
