Winchester-based Friends of King Alfred Buses (FoKAB) has confirmed that a running day will take place on 3 January, a Bank Holiday. Around half a dozen vehicles will be involved, running a network of services.
FoKAB secretary David Morgan said: “This event recalls our original New Years Day running days that began in the 1980s. At the time, Stagecoach didn’t run any services on that day and there were no other events nearby. But we had really bad weather in 2014 and there were other events going on, so we decided to switch the event to later in the year. The 3 January event will maintain a long-established tradition and provide a service for the many supporters who would still like to travel on these historic buses during the winter.”
