Having been founded with a focus on buses, the company is setting its sights on the wider transport ecosystem and plans to offer repowering solutions in a diverse range of applications

Founded in 2021, bus repowering specialist KleanBus has announced the next phase of its business growth with the launch of KleanDrive, an umbrella company under which it will offer its electrification technology across the entire transport sector.

The new KleanDrive identity will evolve and expand KleanBus’ strategic focus of bus repowering to now include all kinds of vehicles where carbon-emitting combustion engines can be replaced with its clean, electric powertrain solution. This will include, but will not be limited to, current and future light commercial vehicles, heavy-duty vehicles, and marine vessels.

CEO of KleanDrive Joe Tighe said: “The launch of KleanDrive is a natural evolution of our business and innovative technology, reflecting our forward-thinking approach and our commitment to explore new opportunities that extend beyond the bus industry. This is the next step on our journey where our primary goal remains unwavering: to accelerate the transition to zero-emission vehicles for the betterment of our planet and all its inhabitants.

“Our mission is transforming transport and with our innovative repowering technology offering a quick, cost-effective and sustainable shift to zero-emission, KleanDrive is ideally positioned to be the go-to solution provider in response to the urgent need to decarbonise across challenging and high-impact sectors.”

The milestone reflects the UK company’s growth since launching, and the new KleanDrive brand is accompanied by a new logo and website launch with a ‘.earth’ web domain that represents its founders’ passion of saving the planet.

KleanDrive says its repowering technology has so far been a revelation in transforming polluting diesel buses, and the firm will continue to do so, still operating under the KleanBus name. As it moves forwards, it plans to enable clients from all transport applications to replace diesel engines with its ‘ePowertrain’ module solution for a fully electric powertrain that represents a fast and cost-effective path to a zero-emission fleet. Its technology, created from locally-sourced components, where feasible, is tailored to meet the unique needs of each client’s application and is manufactured to meet OEM quality industry standards.

With an efficient upcycling and testing process after the development of an initial prototype, KleanDrive says its solution minimises disruptions and reduces operating costs to a fraction of those associated with buying and building brand new electric vehicles, making it an ideal choice for fleet operators seeking a swift and sustainable transition from diesel to electric, all without prohibitive costs.

Behind KleanDrive is a team of experts and advisors with a combined wealth of 150 years of experience who say they are deeply committed to preserving the environment and promoting sustainable transportation solutions; this experience, passion, and new direction, means that the launch of KleanDrive marks the beginning of an exciting journey, the company says, into a new era of sustainable mobility, where it is poised to be at the forefront of driving positive change.
