Leger Holidays, has launched a new brochure, fittingly on Remembrance Day. The 76-page brochure, available online or in print, features over 80 planned tours and introduces 17 new tours to the May 2022 to October 2023 programme of European and worldwide battlefield tours, covering WW1, WW2, the Napoleonic Wars and the American Civil War. The tour itineraries cover many aspects of military history, from anniversaries and special commemorative events, to key battle sites and the human side of war, and are accompanied by specialist guides.

The new tours include ‘The Silent Cities’ in partnership with the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, looking at the organisation’s history in Belgium and France, with specially arranged visits and talks exclusive to Leger Holidays; Vimy Ridge and Arras, offering an in-depth look at the battlefields around Arras, with a day at Vimy Ridge to explore the WW1 site; ‘Behind The Lines on The Somme’ exploring life behind the Somme front line in WW1, including less-visited cemeteries, soldiers’ graffiti, and new museums; and Anne Frank in Amsterdam, telling the story of the Holocaust in the Netherlands and how it affected the Jewish population of Amsterdam.

The tours, lasting from four to 16 days, include hotels with breakfast, some with lunch and dinners, and coach travel from a convenient local joining point, with selected tours having the option to upgrade to Silver Service or Luxuria coach travel. All tours are also accompanied by a specialist battlefield guide, and entrance to sites and museums are as specified in the itineraries.

Leger Shearings Group’s Chief Executive Liam Race said: “Since we first introduced battlefield tours in 1997, Leger Holidays has established an unrivalled reputation for both our military history tours and our expert guides, who are all highly knowledgeable, approachable and bring the history to life. Nothing is more rewarding than visiting the sites where history was made. A battlefield tour offers great insight into the past and allows us to take an in-depth look at how these tragic events unfolded, ensuring the legacy of those who sacrificed so much is never forgotten but remembered for generations to come.”

Leger offers a children and young adults 50% discount on selected tours, for those aged 8-17 when travelling with an adult. In addition, the company offers schools and colleges WW1 and WW2 group tours through Holt Tours, which has been part of the Leger brand since 2015.
