
Jonathan Welch speaks to South Antrim Community Transport about its vital role in keeping people connected
At the Community Transport Association’s conference in Newcastle late last year, guests had the pleasure of hearing from a number of inspirational and informative speakers on topics from across the community transport sector. Among those was Lesley-ann Millar, representing South Antrim Community Transport in Northern Ireland.
South Antrim Community Transport (SACT) is a non-profit making organisation and a registered charity whose aims are to address and reduce social isolation within the its operational area, which is located in an area bounded to the south-east by Belfast and to the south-west by Lough Neagh. As its name suggests, the charity covers a large part of County Antrim measuring some 440 square miles, including the rural parts of the county and Ballyclare, where SACT is based.
