Lloyd Morgan Group has launched a new course designed to upskill technicians, engineers, and workshop staff to work safely around high voltage electric and hybrid vehicles.

Sam Law, Brand and Project Manager for Lloyd Morgan Group, said: “Many of our customers are now seeing electrified vehicles coming into their fleets and so are looking for training that not only meets their duty of care but also upskills their staff, ensuring they are fully qualified to work on these types of vehicles.”

The training provider has combined its Level 2 award in electric/hybrid vehicle routine maintenance activities and Level 3 award in electric/hybrid vehicle system repair and replacement to create an new, comprehensive three-day course. On completion, candidates will have obtained a Level 3 approved qualification, demonstrating they have the core knowledge and skills to work safely around and maintain these vehicles as well as the skills and knowledge to remove and replace high voltage components. The course will consist of an online exam on day 2 and practical assessments on day 3.

“With a shortage of electric and hybrid vehicle qualified workshop staff, Lloyd Morgan Group is delighted to be able to offer this training to help bridge the skills gap,” added Sam. “This course complements the Level 1 electric/hybrid vehicle awareness course that we have been delivering successfully for a while now. Level 1 is aimed at all staff who are in contact with electrified vehicles, whereas the Level 2 and 3 course is designed specifically for HGV and PSV engineers and workshop staff.”
