With the sale of the remaining Routemasters, there is no prospect of London’s heritage routes returning, reports Nick Larkin
Transport for London has confirmed that it is selling all the AEC Routemasters latterly used on its 15H heritage route. Some of the 10 vehicles still owned when the service ended in September 2019 had recently undergone £40,000 refurbishments.
A TfL spokesperson told CBW: “There are five heritage Routemasters left for sale. When the remaining buses are due to be sold, a guide/starting price will be given depending on the condition of the bus, and a sealed bidding process will begin, with the highest bidder per bus winning. This will take place later in the year. Anyone who would like to be informed of the specific date the process starts can contact TfL by email at [email protected].”
