Bus strikes are due to take place in London at the same time as scheduled TfL and railway strike action, as disrpution continues throughout the sector in August.
More than 1,600 London bus drivers look set to take action as a result over a dispute in pay, adding to difficulties for those affected by rail strikes. Scheduled for 19 and 20 August, trade union Unite said the action comes after drivers offered a pay increase of 3.6% in 2022 and 4.2% next year, which the it says is effectively a pay cut considering the present rate of inflation.
In a statement, Unite General Secretary Sharon Graham said: “The parent company RATP is fabulously wealthy and it can fully afford to pay our members a decent wage increase. Our members at London United will receive the union’s complete support until this dispute is resolved and a fair pay offer secured.”
Services operated by RATP Group subsidiaries London Sovereign, London United and London Transit will be affected They cover over 110 bus routes from 10 different bases.
