In a surprise move, the Scottish municipal has purchased the East Lothian coach and local bus operator

In the latest purchase by a larger group of an independent operator, Scottish municipal Lothian Buses has purchased East Lothian coach operator Eve Coaches, based in Dunbar, to expand its own coach and tours offering in the area. Lothian already has a coaching division under the Lothian Motorcoaches brand, which was reintroduced in 2018. The company says it intends to keep the Eve Coaches name.

Eve Coaches says it is East Lothian’s largest coach and bus operator, and was founded in 1978. The company operates a mixture of local bus services, private hire services and school work.

Lothian Managing Director Sarah Boyd said: “Eve Coaches is a well-known operator in the local area with over 40 years of service to the communities of East Lothian. We look forward to the opportunities that this acquisition will afford us in the future.”
