GERMANY A number of German operators have recently taken delivery of Setra low-entry interurban MultiClass LE buses. HLB Hessenbus, based in the Hesse region and with depots in Kassel, Butzbach and Hofheim, is taking delivery of 20 Setra S 515
LE buses.

The vehicles are each equipped with 36 seats, alongside 58 standing spaces, a widened centre aisle and a 360 degree camera. The 12.2 metre long buses are among the first vehicles to be delivered by the Setra brand with two double leaf inward opening doors, and are fitted with urban-style interior seating. The two axle vehicles are powered by the 7.7 litre Daimler OM 936 inline six-cylinder engine.

Fellow German operator WW mobility in Rhineland Palatinate is taking on new routes in the Western Forest region, and is deploying 10 new S 515 LE vehicles on behalf of the Rhine-Mosel Transport Association (VRM). The 12.2 metre long vehicles are each equipped with 37 seats, plus 48 room for 48 standing and a space for wheelchair users. The buses each have a passenger counting system on board, as well as Daimler’s Traffic Sign Assist which compares the speed of the vehicle with the permissible speed and warns the driver if the permitted speed is exceeded.

A third operator, Alpenland-Reisen, has taken two new Setras as part of its 75th anniversary celebration. The company has already taken delivery of a new S 515 LE to a higher specification, and the low entry bus will be followed by an S 515 HD ComfortClass coach in the summer. The buses are used as part of the company’s public transport commitment in the Traunstein and Rosenheim areas, but are also used for excursions, including a ‘Mozart Express’ to Salzburg and a ‘Watzmann Express’ for trips to the Königssee lake, and so have been equipped with higher-quality seating and tinted glass.

Alpenland Reisen’s new Setra features coach-style seats and tinted glazing.
