Lucketts Travel Group has become one of the first companies to gain a newly-introduced Confederation of Passenger Transport (CPT) accreditation.
Launched in 2014, the Workshop Accreditation is awarded after a two-day rigorous assessment of coach and bus operators’ workshops against an extensive engineering compliance and health and safety checklist.
Lucketts Travel Group passed the assessment this summer and was awarded its certificate at the beginning of September. The firm’s name is now one of only four in the UK to be included on the CPT’s Roll of Honour for Workshop Accreditation holders.
Mark Jordan, Group Engineering Director at Lucketts Travel Group, said: “We are thrilled to have been acknowledged by CPT and awarded its Workshop Accreditation.
“There is no statutory obligation to companies in our industry for engineers in the workshop to be qualified, but this accreditation should tell our customers that we are committed to providing the highest standards in the passenger transport sector.
“Being one of four companies in the UK to hold the accreditation is something we are very proud to have achieved. It’s great to have a certificate that proves we do what we say we do.”
Currently, around 80% of Lucketts’ engineers have an IRTEC licence, issued after they complete a voluntary assessment scheme from the Institute of Road Transport Engineers (IRTE). By the end of 2015, all Lucketts’ engineers will have this licence, which certifies them individually, rather than the workshop as a whole.
Mark added: “Lucketts Travel Group has embarked on an ambitious growth and investment programme and it is therefore an extremely exciting time to be working for the company. This award and commitment to staff training is affirmation that the business is expanding and moving in the right direction while paying close attention to the development of its team.”
