Lucketts Travel’s in Fareham recently took the opportunity to trial Yutong’s TCe12 electric coach. With Lucketts’ parent company National Express Group’s ambition to move its coach fleet to zero-emission vehicles by 2035, Lucketts said it was an opportunity not to be missed.
With its 281kWh battery capacity, the coach claims a 200-mile range and can be charged in around two hours. It has seats for up to 50 passengers, with front and centre passenger doors, and can be supplied fully PSVAR ready. Lucketts Travel driver Geoff was the one to trial the coach: “I must say that the vehicle was smooth, comfortable to drive and very quiet,” he said. “I was also impressed by the 200 mile range it has. The passenger feedback was good, nice comfortable seating, a clean quiet smooth journey. All in all, very impressive.”
Lucketts also trialled the coach on one of its staff shuttle services, which it said provided a comfortable and successful journey for all on board. National Express South Managing Director Murray Carter added: “As a business, we have a duty to combat climate change by introducing new technology to reduce emissions where possible. The trial of the Yutong EV was excellent and showed that an electric vehicle solution is perfect for our local regular routes. It will definitely be a consideration for future coach purchases.”
