Lucketts Travel Group has been named as the best large business in the South of England at the Johnston Press South Business Awards, run by the southern division of the Johnston Press newspaper group.
The company picked up the award during a ceremony at the Grand Hotel in Brighton on Friday, October 2.
Fareham-based Lucketts was shortlisted for the award after winning the Business Excellence Awards, run by daily paper The News, based in Portsmouth. The group was praised by the judges for its financial results, increases in staff numbers and its investment in training, all while maintaining its ethos as a family-run firm.
Since 2010/11, Lucketts Travel Group’s revenue has increased from £12.8m in that financial year to an estimated £20.5m for 2014/2015.
Lucketts’ Joint Managing Director, Ian Luckett, said: “This award has come at the end of Lucketts Travel Group’s busiest period, during which all our staff work incredibly hard around the clock to keep the business performing at the high level our customers have come to expect from us.
“This award win has topped off an excellent 2015 for the group, which has seen one of the busiest summer seasons on record, investment in our staff and fleet, becoming one of the first in the industry to gain standards accreditation for our workshop, award wins for our business and our service, plus an expansion in the destinations on offer to our customers.
“2016 will be the company’s 90th Anniversary and one that will see significant investment in new vehicles, but also in the valuable staff that work for the business, with training and development being given top priority.”
