South American manufacturer Marcopolo has launched the Generation 8 version of its Viaggio 1050 model in the Brazilian market. The coach, of which the company has already sold 50, complements the brand’s line of buses, which already include the Paradiso 1050, Paradiso 1200, Paradiso 1350, Paradiso 1600 LD and Paradiso 1800 DD models. The manufacturer has already sold over 4,000 Generation 8 vehicles, of which 2,150 are double-deckers, and 850 were destined for the international market.

The new Viaggio G8 1050 incorporates all the innovations and technologies introduced in the Paradiso coach models and provides operators with a new but more economical and efficient option for charter and tourist operations.

Externally, the Viaggio G8 1050 retains the design of the Generation 8 models, with an ABS bonnet, front optics with bulbs (LED headlights are optional extras) and round fog lights, as well as a new, wider windscreen and exclusive rear-view mirrors.

Internally, the Viaggio G8 1050 has a new lower front dashboard that provides greater visibility for the driver and a new instrument cluster, making it easier for the driver to access the controls. There is also a new demister system with a higher air speed.

The model also incorporates a 4.3” multiplex system, which allows operation via touchscreen and physical buttons, and also has a malfunction diagnosis system via Bluetooth to make maintenance faster. The vehicle is supplied with a hinged door, or optional sliding door.

In the passenger area, the model has received a new, more efficient cooling system to be reached more quickly and evenly, and a new overhead luggage rack with a new fastening system as well as more uniform indirect internal lighting.

The Viaggio G8 1050 model presented at the recent Lat.Bus trade show has a Mercedes-Benz O500 RS 1938 Euro VI chassis, a total length of 13,200mm, a width of 2,600mm and a height of 3,750mm, with capacity for 46 passengers in semi-sleeper seats.
