McGill’s Buses’ take-over of First Scotland East took place on Tuesday 20 September. In the lead up to the start date, McGill’s posted artwork showing a new livery and the revival of the original Eastern Scottish and Midland Bluebird fleet names to the operating area. The initial livery and layout shown in the images appeared very similar to that used by Lothian Buses, leading to speculation by some about what that could mean for bus services in the area.
