The Scottish independent showed off its zero-emission fleet and highlighted its plans to work towards Scotland’s net zero targets

McGill’s Buses welcomed Scottish Government Minister for Connectivity Jim Fairlie MSP to its Johnstone depot for a tour of the facilities and to discuss the company’s journey towards a zero-emission future. The visit coincided with McGill’s celebrating having covered 12 million electric miles with its growing fleet of zero-emission buses.

During the tour, the Minister examined the electric fleet, including the depot’s charging infrastructure, and learned more about McGill’s plans to further expand its zero-emission operations as part of its commitment to supporting Scotland’s vision for a greener public transport network.

The Minister said: “It’s inspiring to see McGill’s Buses at the forefront of Scotland’s transition to greener, cleaner transport. Achieving 12 million electric miles is a remarkable milestone that demonstrates their dedication to reducing emissions and promoting sustainable travel. The Scottish Government is committed to supporting operators like McGill’s, as we work together towards a net-zero future.”

CEO of McGill’s Tony Williamson emphasised the company’s long-term commitment to innovation and sustainability. He said: “Welcoming Mr Fairlie to our Johnstone Depot gave us an excellent opportunity to showcase our progress in delivering a zero-emission future. Reaching 12 million electric miles is a testament to the hard work of our team and our continued investment in cutting-edge technology. We’re excited to play a leading role in Scotland’s journey to net-zero emission and will continue to build on this momentum to provide cleaner, greener public transport for all.”
