megabus launches new coach tracking tool

Customers travelling on megabus services can now see when their coach service is due to arrive at any stop with the launch of its new coach tracker tool. Available at megabus.com, the tracker updates every two minutes and shows the exact location of any megabus service allowing customers to search either by location or by service number.

Mark Venables, Managing Director of megabus, said: “We know that our customers want to have all the information about their service at their fingertips, and we want everybody to feel confident in travelling with us. Based on the feedback we’ve received from our customers, we’ve launched this brand new service that will allow people to check the exact location of their service. You can check for services either on the day of your travel or for travel the next day, and there’s a clear and easy map to show the progress of your service. So whether you’re checking before you leave home, whilst waiting in a coffee shop, or on board and want to know how far you’re away from your destination – this tracker now allows our customers to do that. The feedback so far has been 100% positive from our customers, drivers, control team and contractors and I’m incredibly proud to be doing our bit to promote a highly sustainable form of transport in this way.“

The system has been developed in conjunction with uTrack, a well-established business which works with transport providers to develop and deliver digital technology projects offering real time vehicle tracking and other ‘smart’ services.

This new development is the latest in a range of customer improvements by megabus which include the ongoing investment in new coaches, free WiFi, improved seating with wireless charging and the launch of reserved seating options which allow customers to pick and choose their preferred seat when booking.
