Midhurst has welcomed the first coaches to make use of the two dedicated bays, which have recently been provided at the West Sussex market town’s bus interchange, at the bottom of North Street.

Coach parking was lost in 2012 when development on the new Grange Centre began and the car park was redesigned.

Town Councillor Steve Morley, who has fought a four-year battle to find replacement facilities for coaches, said: “Hopefully this means tourists will bring a much needed boost to the economy of the town and add to the viability and vitality of our cafes, bars, restaurants and shops. I am very grateful to Jane Hodgkiss, Paul Over and the economic development team at Chichester District Council and to Colin Stratford at Stagecoach.”
