Baroness Kramer has announced an additional £900,000 for the Local Sustainable Transport Fund, which will benefit seven communities in England. The funding has been allocated to existing local projects.

Leicestershire County Council is receiving £160,000 for a range of schemes including better information at bus stops.

Hertfordshire County Council has been given £130,000 towards a raft of schemes encouraging greater uptake of cycling, walking and bus use.

The announcement follows £440m announced for sustainable transport schemes on July 11, part of £2bn the government is investing on a wide range of measures to encourage sustainable transport, including encouraging the uptake of electric cars and other ultra-low emission vehicles and schemes to promote greener public transport, cycling and walking.
