Business advisory firm FRP announced on Tuesday 16 June 2020 that Moseley (PCV) Ltd has entered administration.

Headquartered in Pontefract, West Yorkshire, Moseley is the largest, independently owned distributor of new and used coaches in the UK. It is the official importer for new VDL, Beulas and Indcar coaches and supplies to operators across the tourism, transport, and education sector. It also supports customers with vehicle preparation, after-sales, and technical support.

The Company had faced significant challenges in recent months following a reduction in orders, after the coronavirus pandemic led customers to postpone or delay the purchase of new coaches. This combined with the shutdown of the UK tourism sector and the restrictions put in place as a result of coronavirus, led Moseley to operate in a limited capacity from March, Moseley in the South was also consolidated into Moseley (PCV) in April. The company has ultimately entered administration due to a number of these factors combined.

Following their appointment, the joint administrators are now marketing the business and its assets for sale. Unfortunately, 29 employees have been made redundant and the remaining eight employees have been retained to manage customer enquiries and support with after-sales as the joint administrators urgently seek a buyer.

Mark Hodgett and Phil Pierce from specialist business advisory firm FRP were appointed joint administrators of Moseley (PCV) Ltd on 16 June 2020.

Mark Hodgett, joint administrator of Moseley (PCV) Ltd, said: “Over the last 60 years Moseley has firmly established itself as an industry leader, renowned by customers across the UK for providing a high-quality service and best-in-class products. Our priority is now to ensure minimum disruption for customers as we market the business for sale, and I would like to thank the firm’s employees for their continued support throughout this process. We will also be working closely with the Redundancy Payments Service to support those affected and would urge any other interested parties to contact us as soon as possible.”

Airdrie-based Moseley Distributors operations remain unaffected, with Managing Director Jim Tweedie reassuring its customers on the company’s website with this statement: “We are saddened that Moseley (PCV) Ltd, based in Pontefract, has gone into voluntary administration.

Moseley Distributors would like to reassure all our customers and friends that we are still very much here.

As you will be aware, we have had a long-standing association with Moseley (PCV) and Moseley in the South. We have worked alongside them for over 30-years.

Moseley Distributors Ltd remains a separate, financially strong company, and will continue to be your dealer, available for parts, body and mechanical repairs and coach sales.

We are working towards a return to normal trading, in the wake of the coronavirus crisis, and in line with the government advise. At present we are open on a reduced capacity every Tuesday and Thursday. Parts are still available to order, and minor repairs are still being carried out with a temporary reduced number of workshop staff.”
